In the shadows of Newcastle, a dark secret unfolds. A Senior detective, scarred by their own pasts, must confront the demons of a child prostitution ring and the societal indifference that fuels its existence.

The Walking Wounded is four intertwined stories and their crossover points. The Walking Wounded is a gripping story that follows two Senior Detectives as they delve into a child prostitution ring with connections to the upper echelons of Newcastle society. While working on solving a double homicide, they also try to locate two boys who have gone missing. Through their investigations, they not only uncover the truth about the crimes they’re investigating, but also come to terms with their own personal demons. 

This story delves into the heart-wrenching effects of childhood sexual abuse on one’s mental state. Despite sharing the same traumatic experiences, two individuals cope with their pain in distinct ways. Several characters are burdened with past abuse, either facing it head-on or choosing to ignore it. The perpetrators of abuse are also depicted, and even some victims are seen to suffer throughout the narrative. Notably, the story takes a unique turn by portraying male-on-male abuse instead of the typical male-on-female abuse.

Story Arc 1: Senior Detective Sergeant Phillip “Phil” Dobson and Senior Detective Sergeant Li Ma “Turbo” Zhang are detectives with the Newcastle Homicide Squad. They are inseparable childhood friends, and an LGBTIQ+ love story for the ages. 

Story Arc 2: Levi (13) and Toby (8) Holbert live in Dunedin New Zealand with their physically abusive mother. When Toby suggests moving to Australia, she inexplicably agrees and they arrive in Newcastle to start a new life. Two days later, their mother is killed in a car accident and the boys find themselves in the hands of a sexually abusive priest.

Story Arc 3: Ian “Iceman” Chase is the man that runs the racket along with his mentor and protector Judge William Jude. He suffered violence and sexual abuse at the hands of his father for ten years, and it has destroyed his humanity. 

Story Arc 4: Davina “David” Jacoby is a gender fluid Social Worker. They are also a sexual abuse survivor but use their pain to drive them to help others. As a child, they believed the abuse was actually normal behaviour and their favourite teacher used it to his advantage. The realisation that came in their teens almost destroyed them.

 Logline: 

Two aliens discover one of their own has formed an unholy alliance with religious zealots. The goal is to hide the Earth from the Universe. They activate a hidden team and the chess game begins.

Synopsis

Throughout our adventure, we explore diverse destinations on planet Earth, such as the bustling metropolis of New York, the enchanting Middle East, the charming streets of Paris, the awe-inspiring Matterhorn, and the vibrant landscapes of Australia. We embark on an extraordinary voyage that spans an astonishing distance of 70,000 light years away from our humble planet. The concept of religion takes on a protagonist role and can cause conflict, whether in theory or in actual actions, as religious or political figures impede the progress of our characters. While unravelling the truth, they uncover Dorian, a fellow Aeonite, who is working against them, ensuring that religious zealots continue to exert their control. Bjorn and Zorn engage in a battle of wits with Aeonite Commander Dorian, each move on the chessboard bringing them closer to determining Earth's future. They quickly discover that the mastermind behind it all is none other than the President of the United States. They experience a rollercoaster of emotions as they face stressful situations, dramatic encounters, and moments of hilarious comedy and fun.
